The central stage of my conworld is usually referred to as “the Llof”1Pronounced [loːf], the extra l was added by high school me for fanciness… (and will eventually be renamed). The Llof is not a planet, but a crossing of planes of collective imagination by its inhabitants, also called dimensions2will also be renamed, because the term makes no sense – again, blame high school me. It is believed by the people of the Llof that if enough minds imagine the same world, it will become real and physically accessible. These worlds can take all sorts of forms, defy laws of physics, and may intersect if the inhabitants of two worlds start imagining each other.

The Llof is one such intersection (called a “dimension crossing”). In its center, it hosts the Island Dimension, also commonly referred to as Asiulvesacam “ash islands”, after the country of the Asiuluiam located there. These are three land masses that seem to float in the air, on a plain of clouds. On the same plain, located sunwards of the Vesacam, is a giant solidified Cumulonimbus cloud, called the Cloud Palace. There are several other islands scattered around the cloud plain. The Cloud Palace and some of the surrounding islands form the Dakiuzuiam’s homeland, while a larger central island hosts the nation of the Free Yelluam.

The cloud plain is enveloped by several other dimensions, most of which are visible from the cloud plain’s surface. These dimensions form an oval shape around the center, with the cloud plain forming the long axis in the oval’s middle. Over the top of the cloud plain spans the Star Dimension, a universe with stars and planets. It is not clear whether this is the same universe our Earth is located in. The Llof views into a solar system, but as it is no planet, it does not move around the sun, but has a static position inside the system, always facing the sun with one long end of the oval (hence the direction term “sunwards”). The Llof’s orientation in the Star Dimension is flickering, giving the impression of it rotating around its own long axis (i.e. the cloud plain). This means that while the sun is always on the same side of the oval, it does wander on a small radius, dipping below the cloud plain for a few hours every day to produce a short night.

On the non-sunwards top half and bottom half of the Llof oval stretch the Forest, Desert, and Ocean Dimensions, with the Ocean Dimension occupying most of the bottom half, giving the islands the impression of floating over a giant curved sea. The peaks of the Mountain Dimension are occasionally visible through the cloud plain sunwards of the Cloud Palace.
